Ladyfest 2005 is an art and music festival that will take place from July 28th-31st, 2005. All proceeds after expenses will benefit local non-profits including Safeplace, and G.R.U.B. It will be located in Olympia, Washington, the historic birthplace of the Riot Grrrl movement and home to some of the country's most energetic underground music and art scenes. This festival will showcase and encourage the artistic, organizational, and political talents of women. Scheduled events include musicians, performance artists, films, authors, and visual artists. Participatory workshops and panel discussions on current women's issues are also an integral part of the festival. Ladyfest 2005 is organized by women and features female performers, artists, and panelists. All are welcome to attend.

Hello there, we have now established a Ladyfest Spain Livejournal to keep you updated on our festival. Join as a friend and keep track of our ongoing benefit gigs and ladyfiestas!
Ladyfest Spain will be a 2-3 day-long festival, which we want to take place on a weekend, next autumn, 2005, in Madrid. It will be held in a venue with the capacity to hold different activities simultaneously: concerts, conferences, films, arts exhibitions, workshops and a DIY market.
Ladyfest Spain is placed within feminist ideology, DIY ethics and alternative culture. It promotes female identity, equality, women’s empowerment and self-affirmation through artistic expression, as well as the organization of the festival and the participation in its different activites.
Ladyfest Spain is organized by the association Ladyfest Spain, composed by around 15 people, most of us women, based in different cities from the Spanish Peninsula.
The festival is mainly organized by, and directed to, women, and musical acts and other activities are focused on women, but men are also welcomed to participate, both in the activities held during the festival and in its organisation.
You can also write to us if you are interested in visiting or participating.
Ladyfest Ottawa has joined the ranks of the livejournal world. so please if youa re interested in our festival make us friends!!!!

I was wondering if they're going to have ladyfest in Seattle?
I checked out www.ladyfest.org but it looks like it's not happening in Seattle this year.
Should I wait it out?
2005 Submission Deadline: Feb. 1st, 2005
You are invited to submit your bookworks, zines, and independent publications to be juried for the 2005 North American tour of projet MOBILIVRE-BOOKMOBILE project. The collection will be selected based on inventive explorations of the book as a system and creative manipulations of its form. Works that are politically engaging, collaboratively produced and works that challenge conventional conceptions of "the book" are encouraged. A jury will be held in March to determine the 2005 selection. Good luck! For more information and an application form, go to www.mobilivre.org
Space in the Airstream is limited so extremely large submissions may not be appropriate. There is no limit to the number of submissions per person.
To submit, please complete the APPLICATION FORM available at www.mobilivre.org/submit. Print a copy for each additional submission. SUBMISSIONS WITHOUT APPLICATION FORMS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.
As the collection will be traveling on bumpy roads and handled by many readers, your bookwork may suffer a little wear and tear during the tour. Please keep this in mind when you submit a one of a kind bookwork.
